In 1974 Stow could still be found in the dialling instructions, but it was soon to vanish from the list and together with Bourton-on-the-Water and others was to form the Cotswold group of exchanges (STD code 0451). The exchanges and equipment on the ground remained in place of course. Stow remained electro-mechanical almost until the end of Strowger in the UK. The racking, stripped of its equipment, is still in place and can be glimpsed through the windows. The building is a smaller version of the one at Chipping Norton. The flat-roofed section to the right houses toilets and mess room.
